We visited Carabao Island in Romblon, Philippines, while Boracay Island was still close. In our visit on the island, we found a charming resort, the Lanas Beach Resort by Oceans 11. The resort was just by the beach and can be reached immediately by our boat.
The resort was a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Check-In
When we arrived in Boracay Airport, we had a 45-minute boat ride. Then we immediately saw Lanas Beach resort from the ocean.
Welcome drinks were given to us as soon as we entered the resort.
A wonderful quotation greeted us upon our arrival. The staff wrote the quote to inspire guests.
Lighthouse Suite
After we enjoyed our welcome drinks, we were given our keys and we checked out our rooms.
We just wanted to chill and feel the island life in Carabao Island so we booked the Ground and Upper floor of the Lighthouse Suite. This suite was ideal for us because it was just 3 meters away from the sea.
Ground Floor Room
Three of our friends will stay in the ground floor of the lighthouse suite. The ground floor suite is usually good for two, but we requested for an additional bed.
The room was spacious! We can even dance inside the room!
This double bed is the regular bed placed inside the room.
The additional bed was placed beside the large cabinet.
The room also has a huge chair which can also serve as a bed.
You can even arrange re-arrange the chair and move it to see the majestic view outside the room.
Just like what I said, the room was just 3 meters away from the ocean. ?
The room was air-conditioned, and it has a mini refrigerator.
Three water bottles, and fresh flowers were also provided by the resort.
The comfort room of the ground floor lighthouse room was clean and looked like it was new.
Toiletries such as tissue papers, toothbrush, shampoo, and soap were provided.
Upper Floor Room
After we saw the ground floor, Busy and I immediately went to the upper floor.
When we entered the room, we were immediately drawn to the view from the room. But we explored the room first before going to the balcony.
The bed was placed just beside the windows.
By the way, thank you Lanas Beach Resort’s staff for creating this towel arrangement. It was sweet ?
The room was even more romantic at night. 🙂
The upper floor has a pair of sofa chairs…
fresh flowers, study lamp, two bottles of water…

lots of cabinets…
and a kitchen!

The room also has a comment card. Lanas Beach Resort would like to hear the comments and suggestions of the guests to improve their facilities and services.
The comfort room of the upper floor was just okay. We prefer the comfort room on the ground floor.
We went outside the balcony and saw the refreshing view.
The resort placed a table with chairs in the balcony so guests can stay in the balcony and enjoy the view.
Well… I enjoyed the view!
I think I stayed in the balcony for hours.
The experience was really relaxing.
Busy also stayed in the balcony at night when he did some of his work in his laptop. He usually work even though we are in a vacation.
Other Rooms
The resort also has other rooms.
The other rooms were located in Villa Sol and Villa Bo.
Lanas Beach Resort’s Facilities
The resort was not that big, but it can provide everything that a guests needs.
Multi-Purpose Hall
The resort has a multi-purpose hall which is just beside the resort’s restaurant. This is going to be a good place if you wish to have your party here.
The Garden
There were also different plants and flowers in the resort.
Beach Area
The most important aspect of the resort was, it was just beside the beach.
The sand on the beach was a mixture of fine sand and a few rocks. It can be easily described as the sand in Boracay Island plus the sand in Puka Beach.
Boats can easily dock in-front of the resort which was good. We had an island activity in our second day and we were just picked up by the boat in-front of the resort.
The resort (and the island) was filled with Coconut Trees.
Sunbathing chairs were provided by the resort.
The weather was sunny…
but one time, the rain poured.
It was just okay because the view was still good.
After the rain, a rainbow appeared as we enjoy the sunset.
One of my friends relaxed by the hammock swing during the sunset.
Seeing the ocean at night was cool!
We saw the moon after a while, it was so romantic.
Lanas Lounge, Bar, and Restaurant
As I have mentioned earlier, everything that you need was in the resort. The resort has a bar and restaurant.
The bar looks like this in the morning:
It looked more appealing at night.
Look at the glass holders, it was made out of Bamboo! So cute!
Aside from the owner and some of his friends, we were the only guest at that time, so we have all of the bar and restaurant for us 🙂
Our dining table was prepared by the staff.
We can’t wait to eat!
Lanas Bar and Restaurant’s Menu
We suggest that you order your food in advance so your food will be ready on your preferred schedule. The restaurant creates their food from scratch so it may take time to be cooked.
The resort also serves some specials, it can be for a day or for a week.
The Delicious Food
Here were some of the dishes that we ordered. Some of the dishes were ordered twice, thrice, and even four times!
Breakfast
The classic Ham and Cheese Omelette was served together with a cup of rice, and a veggie side dish.
I forgot to take a photo but we also ordered a lot of their Carbonara Pasta dish. We ate it for breakfast, and for our late night snack.
Filipino Food
We love the Pork Sisig of the restaurant. It tasted good, it has the right crunchiness and has the correct proportion of fat and meat. The dish was topped with chopped spring onions and served with rice.
We, again ordered Pork Sisig, but as shown from the picture above, we asked for the viand only, no rice. Pork Sisig was included in the special of the day menu of the restaurant.
A Filipino classic, Pork Adobo was also offered in the restaurant. It has the right amount of saltiness and sweetness. The Pork Adobo was served with Garlic Rice.
This dish was a hit for us so we ordered this 4 times! ?
A twist to the classic Fried Bangus (Milkfish), the resort created Bangus Steak. They poured Soymansi Sauce with onion on the fried Bangus, and it was served with rice.
Dishes Abroad
Aside from Filipino dishes, the resort also served dishes from other countries.
Fleischpflanzerl is a Danish version of meatballs. For first impressions, Fleischpflanzerl looked appetizing! When we tasted it, were not disappointed, the dish was delicious!
It was served with mashed potatoes, gravy, and topped with thinly sliced crispy onions.
One of my friends also ordered this one but with rice. The dish was so good we even ordered this one four times!
We again tried one of their specials, the Spicy Meatballs. We think the meatballs were made with the same mixture of the Fleischpflanzerl, but this dish was spicy. It was served with sour bread, so we ordered additional rice and mashed potatoes.
We ordered dessert from their specialty menu, the Kaiserschmarrn. The dish was a traditional Austrian dessert which was made out of shredded pancake, Banana, and some powdered sugar. The pancake mix has the usual ingredients like flour, eggs, and butter, plus raisins, I also think it has a bit of rum.
Complimentary Dishes
The resort also served us off the menu items, just like the following dishes which were given to us.
This Chicken dish was savory! I think it was flavored with different herbs such as the Rosemary.
Finally, we also had a complimentary dessert. I do not know what do they call this but this was DELICIOUS! TASTY! LUSCIOUS! Ohhh I can’t think of more ways how to describe the dessert. It was really, really good! I wish to have more of these ?
The Lounge
As the evening deepens, Busy and I together with our friends relaxed by the lounge.
We bonded and talked about anything and everything.
Some of us brought their work in the island ? just like Busy, one of our friend also worked while relaxing in the island.
I do not drink alcoholic beverages so I craved for any fruit juices. But it was late at night and the bar has iced tea and the usual orange juice only. I wanted something different, so one of the staff showed me this one.
According to the staff, this is a Lemon which was locally grown in Carabao Island.
The staff squeezed the lemon and created their own version of the classic lemonade… Carabao Island Lemonade.
The lemonade was delicious! I wish they had more Lemon, I can drink a lot of these.
The restaurant usually closes at 9 PM, but even though we told the staff that they can go home, we can just be alone because we already ordered everything that we want, the staff has decided to just relax with us during the evening.

Price of the Lighthouse Suite rooms : $58 – 74$ per night
Price of renting the whole resort: $400 per night
Electricity in Carabao Island is only available from 2PM – 6AM

Cleanliness
The resort was well taken care of. There were no garbage or any dead leaves in the resort. The rooms were dust free and the linens of the bed were clean and they smell good.
Facilities
All of the facilities were in good condition, the air-conditioning unit in the rooms works well, the lounge was relaxing, the bar and restaurant was also good. I wanted to give 5 smileys but there was no electricity in the resort from 6AM – 2PM. I think this was the usual electricity condition in the island.
Service
The staff were very friendly and hospitable.
Value for money
The cost of staying in the resort was worth it! The price was not that expensive but
Location
The location was perfect! It was away from the city, and just in-front of the beach.
Ambiance
We really felt the island life that we wanted to experience. We were told that the seaweeds in the area glow in the dark, however we did not have the chance to experience it. We’ll check it out when we return in the island.
Food
The food were delicious and it was worth the price! You just have to order in advance to have your food served on time.
