The Trust Officers Association of the Philippines (TOAP) held its convention this year 2019, with the theme “Shaping the Future of the Trust Industry.”

The convention proper was held at SEDA Capitol Central Hotel, Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Philippines, on February 23, 2019.

Below is the quick recap of what happened in the convention proper.

Registration

The registration started as early as 7:00 AM. The TOAP secretariat assisted the delegates in the registration.

Welcome Address

TOAP President, Atty. Ma. Paz Garcia of BPI AMTC gave the participants a warm welcome.

Keynote Speech

Assistant Secretary Tony Lambino of the Department of Finance delivered the significant keynote speech on “The Philippine Growth Story – Is it still intact?”

He also discussed the TRAIN Law, and the Build, Build, Build, Program.

ASEC Lambino was a member of the Smokey Mountain group, famous in the 1990s. We were glad that he shared his talent by singing Paraiso, a great hit in 1991.

Talk 1

Ms. Diksha Gera, the Sector Head for the Global Financials Research and a Senior Analyst for Asian Banking Sector of Bloomberg discussed the Philippine Market in the context of ASEAN/ China/ US/ Europe Markets.

She began by asking the audience to log to www.pigeonhole.at, and to participate in the live interactive question and answer.

Everybody were participating in the cool interactive introduction of Ms. Gera’s presentation.

Panel 1

Ms. Joy Cervero of PB Com moderated the first panel discussion.

Ms. Cherryl Ofracio of BSP also conveyed her inputs before the start of the panel discussion.

“The New Trust Business Model from the Trust Industry’s Perspective” is the topic in the first panel discussion.

The panelists (left to right) are Atty. Bobbie Concepcion of BDO, Mr. Andrew Caw of ATR Asset Management, Mr. Boyet Benavides of Bank of Commerce, and Ms. Stella Sampayan of DBP.

Talk 2

Mr. Jean-Luc Freymond the CEO of Finartis gave the second talk on “Product Focus: Wealth Advisory.”

Talk 3

Mr. Milan Gohil, the Senior Functional Consultant and Business Analyst of EBIX Cash/ Miles Software gave the last talk on “How Big Data Can Help our Business?.”

Panel 2

The last panel discussion tackled “Traditional Marketing vs Digital Marketing: Pros and Cons for Trust Practitioners” with Mr. Andrew Caw of ATR Asset Management as the moderator.

Closing Remarks

Ms. Joy Cervero of PB Com, Vice President of TOAP, ended the convention with her closing remarks.
